  When
Lcdr Stuart James Mason Jr. retired in 1967 he became a commercial
fisherman. After a few years of fishing on his first boat "Oslo"
he started building a ferro cement fishing / sailing boat. This
project took several years (as in we are still working on it).
The fishing vessel "AURA " is now the
pride of Island Trollers, Inc. She is 63 feet long, weighs 65
tons empty, can hold 40,000 pounds of Albacore and is capable
of world travel. After 28 years in the Navy and 32 years of
fishing, Stu said that was enough. In 1996 Stu's son Larry took
over as captain of the Aura and the president of Island Trollers,
Inc. With his  wife
Cynthia they have developed the Island Trollers Albacore label.
Island Trollers seasonally sells fish off the docks in Anacortes
Washington as well as cans and smoked products seen on this
web site. |
